IN MEMORIAM
IN MEMORIAM
By Dennis Thovson
Andy Dennis, a long-time member of NNJR, died suddenly on August 8. He is survived by his wife, Sandy. Andy and Sandy joined NNJR/PCA in October 1965. The region had about 100 members, and Andy and Sandy were active participants in club events from the beginning. They enjoyed the rallies, which were all time-speed-distance (TSD) at that time. In 1968 Andy aided the transformation of Porscheforus from ditto reproduction to a “modern” commercial reproduction. Porscheforus was still a tri-fold, but it had a picture and artwork! In 1972, Andy put together a slide show about NNJR, Metro NY and Conn Valley’s Tri-State Porscherama, held at Lime Rock Park (which was, at that time, the premier event of the sea
son). It consisted of 3 Carrousel slide projectors and music accompaniment – a real tour de force. Andy worked for a number of companies in an artistic capacity during his career. He became Senior Art Director for Revlon, the company from which he retired. In later years he painted stunning water colors – some of which he donated to NNJR’s annual Charity Auction. One of these appeared on the cover of the June 2009 Porscheforus showing Andy and Sandy with their Black 365, the George Washington Bridge and the NY skyline. Over the years Andy and Sandy attended many, many Porsche Parades and made many friends throughout all of PCA. We all extend our deepest sympathies to Sandy. Andy will be missed.
