2011 Charity Auction
The annual NNJR-PCA Tricky Tray Charity Auction was held on December 14 at the Villa in Mountain Lakes and was once again, a well-attended and highly-successful fund raising event. For the second year, our beneficiary was the Somerset Hills Learning Institute (SHLI), a school in Bedminster, NJ for children and adolescents with autism. We raised $16,250 during the evening for the school and when combined with other fund raising events during the year (Trek for the Kids, Taste of the Track, and 50/50’s), we were able to raise a record amount for our charitable contribution this year! Helmets off to everyone in the Club for all of the donations and work during the year, especially in this challenging economic environment.
At the Tricky Tray event, we had a wide range of items for people to win, including Porsche logo items, automotive art, wine, beer, an LCD TV, an exercise bike, toys, Christmas gift items, tools, Giants and Devils tickets, automotive apparel, automotive services, tires, hand-knitted items, restaurant gift certificates, signed sports memorabilia, jewelry, an iPad, a framed $100 bill, estate and tax planning services, movie tickets, NYC comedy club passes, among many other items donated by our members and supporters. We also had Club donations such as free entry to Driver Education, Concours, Rally, Autocross and Social events during 2012.Examples of some of the big winners of the evening were: Jake Priber for the
iPad, Bill Minko for the Humidor, Minel Rojo for the photo printer, Wil deGroot for the driving shoes, and Dr. Kevin Brothers (director of SHLI) for the Harvest Group restaurant gift certificate. Marti Kalko won the evening’s 50/50 ($544!) and very graciously immediately donated half of it back to SHLI. The biggest Club prizes of the evening were the Gold and Silver Tickets. The Gold Ticket, won by Ceyan Birney, entitles the winner to attend all NNJR-PCA events in 2012 for free! The Silver Ticket, won by Ed Stripko, entitles the winner to six free entries to NNJR-PCA events in 2012.
Overall, it was a very fun evening and the Club raised a significant amount of money for a great cause. Thank you to everyone who donated items, got items donated, bought 50/50 tickets, and bought auction tickets at the event. And thank you to all who helped set up, take down and run the event. This was truly a team effort.
